Partners report increased giving as a result of SVP involvement
Press Release September 4, 2009
Social Venture Partners Boston is committed to philanthropy development.
(BOSTON) - September 4, 2009 – Social Venture Partners Boston announced results from its latest survey designed to assess the impact that Social Venture Partners has on partner philanthropy development.
A key finding from SVP’s 2009 Philanthropy Development report is that nearly 70% of Partners who responded to the survey increased their giving since joining the organization. Among those Partners whose giving level had changed, nearly 80% said their involvement with SVP had an impact on that change.
Philanthropy development is a fundamental part of the SVP model in which members give more than money to improve their communities. SVP partners give their time, professional experience and creativity to work in partnership with nonprofits and local leaders to meet specific community needs. Partners also volunteer professional skills and strategic counsel to help nonprofits build capacity and make vital connections within the community. This level of engagement translates to a high level of satisfaction among donors/volunteers throughout the SVP network which is comprised of 24 affiliates in the United States, Canada and Japan.
“SVP Boston is committed to philanthropy development,” says Marjorie Ringrose, Executive Director of SVP Boston. “The findings from the 2009 partner survey prove that we are clearly creating engaged philanthropists in Boston. We do this by offering donor education seminars, connecting partners with nonprofits to do volunteer work, and providing opportunities for partners to serve on investment committees."
Data outcomes associated with philanthropy development are collected from an SVP Partner Survey created by Social Venture Partners International, the membership association for Social Venture Partners. Designed to generate qualitative information related to partner satisfaction, giving and community involvement, the SVP Partner Survey measures changes associated with how much partners give; the way in which they give; partner involvement in their communities; and changes in a partner’s knowledge of nonprofits and community issues.
