SVP and impact of debate acknowledged by Boston Public Schools
Press Release November 10, 2009
A new study suggests that African-American students who participate in debate leagues earn better grades, are three times more likely to graduate from high school, and are better prepared for college success than similar students who do not debate. Dr. Carol R. Johnson, Superintendent of Boston Public Schools has increased the district's commitment in the Boston Debate League as a powerful tool for engaging urban students in academically rich activities during school, after school, and during the summer. SVP supports the Boston Debate League with funding and highly skilled volunteers.
